Laminated Bin Stickers are the Best Choice for Longevity

While out recently, we spotted these bins—and more specifically, the stickers on them (or what’s left of them). The messaging has almost completely disappeared, most likely due to cleaning or exposure to the elements. It’s not a great look, and more importantly, it’s not very effective.

From what we can tell, these were likely digitally printed without any lamination, or possibly screen printed. Either way, the print hasn’t lasted. Sunlight, weather, and regular cleaning (possibly with a chemical) have worn away the ink.

This kind of failure happens more often than you'd think. Whether on bins, containers or outdoor signage, stickers that aren't specified correctly for their environment don’t stay useful for long.

Aside from the fact that it looks a bit grim, there’s a bigger issue: if people can’t read what bin is for what, they’re far more likely to put the wrong thing in the wrong bin. That leads to contamination, and contamination leads to wasted resources, rejected loads, and higher processing costs.

And let’s not forget the hassle (and expense) of replacing damaged stickers again and again.

Our bin stickers are laminated as standard. It might seem like a small extra step, but it makes a huge difference—the message stays readable for much longer, even with sun, weather and regular cleaning.

Yes, lamination adds another layer of PVC, but the cost of contamination and constant replacements is far greater, both financially and environmentally. One laminated sticker that lasts 3–5 years is much more sustainable than replacing an unlaminated one every year.

Bin stickers might not seem like a big deal, but when they fail, the consequences ripple outward. A faded, unreadable sticker is a missed opportunity to inform, encourage the right behaviour, and keep waste streams clean.

We supply durable stickers to waste contractors, councils and facilities teams across the UK. Whether it’s bin labels, tariff overlays or warning signage, we make sure it lasts.

If you’re tired of replacing worn-out stickers or struggling with unclear messaging, we can help.
