Vehicle graphics making a good impression for Commercial Colours

Commercial Colours are a commercial vehicle accident repair and painting centre based in North Wales. Following an accident they liaise directly with their customer’s insurance company, then make the appropriate repairs. Maintaining manufacturers’ standards is paramount, as is a fast turnaround, so that their customers get vehicles back in tip-top condition, as quickly as possible.

New vehicle graphics without original artwork

We already had a relationship with Commercial Colours, through one of our national fleet contracts. On this occasion they came to us directly with a challenging problem to solve. They had a vehicle in for repair and couldn’t get hold of the original vehicle graphic artwork.

They needed a quick turnaround on replacement graphics so they could get the vehicle back to the customer. In lieu of artwork files our team were sent photographs of the damaged vehicle so we could recommend the best way forward. The customer was sceptical we could help, but as experts in vehicle graphic production, we weren’t in the slightest bit phased!

Durable decals that will last

Looking at the photos of the existing graphics, it was obvious that they’d been on the road for quite some time. One of the colours in particular had faded significantly.

It was decided, with approval from the insurance company, that just replacing the graphics on the damaged door wouldn’t work, as the new graphics would be a different colour. Not only that, because we didn’t have the original artwork, it would be near impossible to match the existing graphics exactly.

We got to work redesigning the graphics for the entire vehicle, rather than just the damaged door, using the photographs as a guide. Once approved by the customer and the insurance company, we produced the graphics using 3M, ultrasonically edge sealed diamond grade red chevrons (classR3B) which were applied to 3M Saturn yellow. Everything was produced in accordance with Chapter 8 guidelines.

The vehicle graphics were returned to the customer less than 4 days from receiving the original photographs. Years of experience meant we could be supremely confident that the 3M materials used will stand the test of time. A durable finish that won’t peel or fade, especially if the customer follows our care instruction guide, which explains how to apply and look after our products. No power washing please guys!
